On November 29, the foundation awarded $30,000 in scholarships to 20 students at the Bayside Cantina banquet hall in Baltimore.

The Sejong Scholarship Foundation of America (President John Hwang) has continued its mission of nurturing next-generation talent for 28 consecutive years. On November 29th, the foundation held its 2025 Scholarship Award Ceremony at the Bayside Cantina banquet hall in Baltimore, awarding scholarships to 20 outstanding students.

A total of $30,000 in scholarships was awarded to 8 high school students and 12 college students, including top scholarship recipient Sihyun Kan (Westfield High School).

The ceremony, emceed by Professor Justin Ji of Towson University, began with opening remarks from President John Hwang. "Scholarships go beyond financial support—they convey hope and belief in the potential and dreams of the next generation," said President Hwang. "We will continue working alongside the local community to nurture future talent and support emerging scholars."

Professor Ji announced the selection of this year's top scholarship recipient: "Sihyun Kan, a high school student who aspires to become a lawyer, was unanimously chosen by the selection committee. Beyond her outstanding academic achievements, she demonstrated consistent dedication through various activities including mock trial, debate, and community service."

In her acceptance speech, Sihyun Kan shared her gratitude: "This scholarship holds special meaning for me—it represents not just financial support, but recognition for quiet, consistent effort. Building on the sincerity my mother taught me, I will continue pursuing my dream of becoming a lawyer with unwavering dedication and integrity."

Prior to the award ceremony, Professor Keunsu Han of Towson University conducted a workshop for the scholarship recipients, providing guidance and mentorship to the students.

Since its establishment in 1997, the Sejong Scholarship Foundation has awarded a total of $745,000 in scholarships to 747 students across high school, college, and graduate programs.
