At the November 13 board meeting, $30,000 in scholarships was approved for 20 students: 8 high school and 12 college recipients.
The Sejong Scholarship Foundation of America (President John Hwang) has announced the selection of 20 scholarship recipients for 2025. At the regular board meeting held on November 13 in Ellicott City, the foundation unanimously approved the selection proposal submitted by the review committee.
A total of $30,000 in scholarships will be awarded to 20 students, including 8 high school and 12 college students.
Selection committee members Professor Justin Ji (Department of Management, Towson University) and Professor Keunsu Han (Department of Kinesiology, Towson University) shared: "This year, instead of essays, we introduced new evaluation elements such as self-introduction videos, leadership experience, community service, and work experience. We were deeply inspired by the creativity and sincerity of many applicants."
President John Hwang noted: "Following last year's success, we expanded our scholarship program and focused eligibility within the Washington, D.C. region to strengthen our ties to both the Korean-American and broader local communities. We were especially impressed by the enthusiasm and growth shown by high school participants, along with the continued success of our art competition."
Chairman Yong Ik Jeong added: "Thanks to our successful art competition and the fundraising support from our annual golf tournament, we were able to assist even more students this year. As society enters an era of rapid AI development, the foundation remains committed to nurturing talented individuals for the future."
Founded in 1997, the Sejong Scholarship Foundation has awarded over $715,000 in scholarships to 727 students across high school, college, and graduate programs.
